pocket letter

One of the challenges at ScrapbookSteals.com's Monday Craft Challenges back in June was to create a pocket letter. Since I wasn't in a swap I decided to design one for a friend to send as a gift to her. And, yes, I made this in June and am now just getting around to posting it!

Each pocket contains something that reminds me of her. Here is the entire pocket letter:

Pocket #1
Polka dot paper, fussy-cut flowers from another paper, stamped on vellum, and a Mod Melt hot glued to a gold paper clip.

Pocket #2
She is an artist and loves birds and dragonflies. Stamped on ledger paper, ink drops, glued on and distressed dictionary paper, stamped and fussy-cut dragonfly, Mod Melt frame surrounding stamped bird.

Pocket #3
This one was so fun to do. She loves coffee as much as I do. And I really wanted to use this "be strong" stamp somewhere on this project and I thought the coffee card would be perfect and funny. I stamped, colored and fussy cut each image and popped them with foam. The two top coffee beans were stamped and fussy cut. The bottom coffee beans were from brown cardstock cirlces. I cut them into more of an oval shape and creased down the middle.

Pocket #4
She can sew. And loves vintagey things. And lace. I stamped and fussy cut more images onto a woodgrain paper.

Pocket #5
Another fun one to make. I just love this stamp. And HAD to turn it into a shaker card. I used my Fuse tool to fuse the pocket closed after adding lots of sequins and confetti.

Pocket #6
She loves dragonflies. More stamping and fussy cutting here.

Pocket #7
She loves birds. And I thought this sentiment was fitting for her too. It is just stamped onto patterned paper.
And her name was made by gluing patterned paper to some chipboard alphas and edging with a black marker.

Pocket #8
More bird stuff. Washi tape. Feather stamped on vellum and fussy cut. Paper clip flag I made with paper and another Mod Melt.

Pocket #9
She plays instruments and sings. Wonderfully. I wanted to incorporate music into a card and thought this stamp was perfect. I fussy cut some leaves and hot glued a cabochon to a paper clip.

Whew. This was really involved but oh so fun to make!

Here are the stamps I used:

4. Vintage Handwritten (on background), sewing set is a discontinued SP and Company set
8. Feather
9. Musical Butterfly (discontinued from SP and Company)

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. And making it all the way to the end of the post!

Have a great weekend!

Growing up is optional

Here are my last 2 cards for the Itty Bitty a Day challenge at the Unity {Show & Tell} facebook group.

I used Numbers, Etc to stamp the background for this card and added lots of washi strips.

This sentiment is from SP & Company. So awesome.
And I added a banner-shaped Epiphany Crafts epoxy.
(this card is listed in  my shop)

This card forced me to use another uninked stamp called You're a real fun-gi. I can't believe I've had it so long and hadn't use it!
I simply watercolored the mushroom. So quick and easy.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happiness & Joy

I just love the big sentiments in the Bold Sentiments II: Birthdays stamp set!
This is one of my favorite SP and Company stamps!

I stamped on a banner and the sentiment is big enough to carry this whole card with just a couple embellishments. And, many sentiments in this set can be used for any celebration - not just a birthday! This would be a great sentiment for a New Year's card even.

Thanks for stopping by today!

I hope  you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!
My kids are out of school now so today will be a cookie-making/crafting kind of day!

Totally Awesome!

Well, it's time for another challenge over at The Paper Girls! This time we are using neon!
So much fun.
I am a child of the '80s and love anything to do with that decade!

I made some neon rolled flowers in pink and orange. Punched some leaves in neon green.
Made a banner in turquoise using Mix n Match Sentiments: Friends stamps to create my custom sentiment. How can you use neon and not say "Totally Awesome"?!?

And then a few neon hearts to fill in some space.

Come join us for this fun challenge and your chance to win some totally radical crafting supplies.

Be there or be square.

Thank You

Here's a card I made several weeks ago but forgot to post!
I saw this card and knew right away I wanted to replicate it.

I used Unity's Just a Note for the frame. The leaves were from a Unity grab and I can't find the name of the set on the website. Maybe it's retired now. Anyway, I love these leaves.

So simple. I mass-produced these to send out for an event last month.
I'm thinking I need to make some with pinecones and snowflakes now!

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm linking up to Unity's Monthly Challenge and Friends with Flair blog hop!

Supplies:
American Crafts Kraft cardstock
Unity's Just a Note stamp set

Hello, Grandma!

This week for my SP and Company design team post I've got another casrd using the Hello, World Baby Announcement stamp builder set.

And once again I didn't make a baby announcement!

I just used some scrap and made hanging banners in the background and curved the ends out.
Added a die-cut frame and stamped my sentiment.
And 3 little I-rock stones finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by and check out the SP blog for more stamping ideas!

It's a boy!

For my weekly SP and Company DT post I've got a little baby boy card!

I stamped and fussy cut the banner from the new Hello, World! Baby Announcement builder stamp set. Then I stamped the sentiment inside the banner.

I framed it out with several different colors and patterns of paper to really make it pop.

Then I finished it off with some of this gorgeous Orange Chevron Stripe twill ribbon also from SP.

I think this might be my new go-to baby card design from now on. I think it's so much fun!

Make sure you visit the SP blog for more stamping ideas.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

-----------------------------------

Welcome to my stop on the blog hop! The first stamp set I worked with was Hello, World! Baby Announcements. Although this set is fantastic for making baby announcements, I just loved that great big "Hello" sentiment! It seemed so fun and festive so I had to use it in a bright card for a friend:

I sprayed some teal paint, made a few washi tape banners to hang, stamped the sentiment, and rounded one corner.

The other set I worked with was Happy Mail.
So of course I had to make a matching envelope for this card!
I simply added a strip of washi and then stamped right above it.

I've never stamped my envelop before but I like it! I think I may be putting this on all my mail from now on  :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Sweetest Holiday Wishes

Hi folks! This is my last project using SP and Company's October release Winter Pocket Fillers.
On the 10th we are releasing the new stamp sets for November! So make sure you come back for the blog hop and your chance to win!

Now back to this card.
The background is from Echo Park's This & That Charming 6x6 pad and the green chevron paper is from the SP September Monthly Kit and is EP This & That Christmas.
The candy canes, sentiment, and holly are all from Winter Pocket Fillers.
This set is meant to coordinate with the pocket from the All Zipped Up set, but you can see that it can be use alone as well.

I just added some twine and olive and red washi tapes from my stash to finish it off.

Now I've got about 2 Christmas cards done and only a bajillionty to go!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Thankful for you

It's Thanksgiving week over at SP and Company.
I used the leaf from the Vintage October: Falling for Autumn set to stamp my background.
I added a few strips of paper from Echo Park's This & That Charming 6x6 pad, some burlap ribbon, and this Orange Chevron twill ribbon. This twill ribbon is new to the SP store and is SOO gorgeous in person!
I clustered some fussy-cut leaves from Falling for Autumn and a homemade acorn. If you are not a fussy cutter then Sami's got you covered with some svg files for this set. That sentiment is also from the Falling for Autumn set.
And then I just loved the tag from the EP Fall Fever paper that I had to add it. It's not even part of the paper but rather the name strip at the bottom.

'THANKS' to all of you for stopping by today!

Owl Always love you

I am so happy to be using SP and Company's Vintage October: Falling for Fall stamp set. I love the cute little images and couldn't wait to ink up this little owl and sentiment:

I created my background by repeatedly stamping Hearty Hearts background in several autumn colors. All the stamps in this heart set just line up so easily. Please don't think you need to only use this set in February with red and pink!

I tied coordinating Twinery Twine in Marigold, Mandarin, Cappuccino, and Charcoal to match my inks.

I paper-pieced the owl and placed him on a branch. I almost put the sentiment on a banner but stopped myself. I'm trying to not use banners on every card! But I needed a way to make the owl say this. Then it hit me. A word bubble! Duh.

I am entering this into Young Crafters Unite Warm and Cozy Colors Challenge.

Sweetest Halloween Wishes

I've got another SP and Company design team post for you. It's Halloween week over at the blog so here's what I created!

I used the notebook paper and lollipops from Winter Pocket Fillers along with the sentiments "Christmas Wish List" and "Sweetest Holiday Wishes" (with selective stamping) to create this little kid's candy wish list.
I colored 3 little pumpkins from the Vintage October: Falling for Autumn set and added a little Twinery twine in Peapod and some washi and that was it for the embellies.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Love is in the air

For my DT post this week I was hoping this little scene on my card would mimic a Polaroid shot.
What do you think?

I used the heart lollipops from the Vintage October: Winter Pocket Fillers set and turned them into balloons using twine for the string! I just layered them over some clouds and a blue background.

And I just LOVE that sentiment from the set! Even though this set coordinates with the All Zipped Up set, it can stand on its own without the pocket too!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Season's Greetings

It's Christmas Cards week over at SP and Company!

I really liked the woodgrain effect I got from my last card that I had to make more using the Vintage October: Wooden it Be Nice set. I was hoping this panel would emulate a front door:

To make the wreath I used Poppy Field Summer. Yep, you read that right! I used the stamp shown below and only inked up the leafy portion in green as you can see below (never mind the stained flowers - there is not really ink on them).
I just repeatedly stamped that section in green while I slowly rotated my cardstock panel until I had a circle. I added some red glittter glue and ribbon and called it a wreath!

For the sentiment I used Ultimate Sentiments II and Mix n Match Sentiments Basics to create the banner.

I now have my first Christmas card of the year! I can almost smell the evergreen and hear the carols...

Supplies:
SP and Company Wooden It Be Nice, Poppy Field Summer, Ultimate Sentiments II, and Mix n Match Sentiments: Basics stamp sets
Tim Holtz Gathered Twigs and Pine Needles Distress inks
Versamark Watermark ink
StazOn ink in Jet Black

Thinking of you

It's time for my weekly SP and Company DT post and I have finally started making some fall-themed cards! I know most of you are probably working on Christmas and Valentine's cards! But I just can't go that far ahead!!

I love woodgrain papers but I run out so quickly. So what's a girl to do? Make her own of course!

I took the Wooden It Be Nice background set and heat-embossed it in dark brown onto white cardstock (which I always have). Then I sponged on a medium brown ink over the entire card to complete the look.
I added some wide pale blue ribbon and Twinery Twine in Mandarin. To attach the twine I poked 5 holes at the top of the card, threaded the twine on a needle, and ran it through and around.

I punched a few leaves from yet more of my scrap papers (the same ones as my last card!). Finally, I added a sentiment from Bold Sentiments I and popped the doily with foam.

Now I have a seasonally appropriate card to use for multiple occasions! Thanks for stopping by today! Remember - you still have a few more days to apply to be on the SP and Company Design team! See details here.
