Marsala

I am hosting the current Paper Girls Challenge and chose the Pantone color of the year, Marsala, as our theme.

Here's my card:

I used Unity's card sketch to get me started. I pulled out a few pieces of marsala paper and some other colors I thought would look good with it.

The butterflies are from Unity's Happy Everything set in Aged Mahagony distress ink. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamps Friendship Messages (I am loving this set!).

I hope you will come link up with us for this challenge! I have a prize for a random participant!

You Rock

I pulled out a brand new Unity stamp for this card.

I stamped it using Distress ink in Tea Dye and then colored her in with water colors. The water blends in the ink giving it a vintagey look.

I put a light wash of yellow water color in the background (not sure if it shows through in the photo) to give it a little pop.

Then I used some markers to give my wooden stars a little ombre look.

Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

It's time for another Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

I stamped this Unity image called Coffee Side by Side and colored with my Spectrum Noirs.

I mounted it on gray and then put it on this great Simon Says Stamp cardstock in Sea Glass.
Sentiment is from Friendship Messages from SSS.

It's really gray here today with not much sunshine. This closeup shows the colors a bit better.

For embellishments I punched and watercolored some little hearts and added some teal twine.
Thanks for stopping along the hop today!

If you didn't come here from the hop then you should go check it out. There are lots of prizes to be won!

I like Big Books.....

and I can not lie!

I have no idea where I first saw this wording. But I've since seen it many times! And I wish I was clever enough to have originated it. And I apologize if that song is stuck in your head now!

I needed a quick bookmark so I grabbed a tag already sitting on my desk. Added a few Distress inks. Stamped image and text. Colored books using my Spectrum Noir markers. Tied a bunch of twine to the top. I sprayed a clear matte top coat on the bookmark to prevent any ink from marking my books.

The books are from this Unity stamp set and the letters are random StudioG.

I am totally makiing more of these but I'll plan it out better and take more than 5 minutes to get it done!

Thanks for stopping by.

I started this card using this sketch from The Paper Girls Challenge blog:

I used the flower stamp fom this Unity kit and watercolored the image.

January 12 Tags of 2015

I LOVE playing along with Tim Holtz' 12 Tags series! But wouldn't you know I never manage to get linked up in time.:(

So this is my January tag inspired by his:

I don't have very many of Tim's embellishments so I have to create my own. His tag was collaged with his tissue paper. I stamped images onto tissue paper to make my own. I used a combo of Tim's stamps and some Unity. I forgot to take a before photo but here is what was left after I cut out what I glued onto the tag:

On top of the tissue was lots of layers of spray ink and distress paint. I don't have his chit-chat words so I created my own using my label maker! It worked out better because I got to choose the words that I wanted to represent my year.

I also didn't have his Alpha Parts so I painted and grunged up some really old chipboard:

Thanks for stopping by today and wish me luck getting February's tag linked up in time!

Happy Anniversary

I've got a little anniversary card today for the current Paper Girls challenge. Nevermind the weird photo. It's dark and I was using my camera light. I plan to replace it with a better one if the sun comes out tomorrow. I say "if" because you just never know up here in the Pacific Northwest. sigh.

Anyway.
I stamped this pretty little vase trio from a Unity set onto watercolor paper. Painted it with various purple and blue watercolors (inspired by Unity's challenge). I matted it onto this beautiful purple cardstock. Some teal twine and a simple sentiment later and it was done.

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great day!

hello...

Hi folks! I finally have something to blog. I have actually made a few things in the last two months but just haven't found the time to blog. Hopefully I'll be able tocatch up soon. I made this card for our challenge over at The Paper Girls which is to use cork.

I pulled out Crate Paper's Story Teller line. This is still one of my favorite lines. Such great patterns and colors. I die-cut the sentiment from cork paper and punched out the hearts from the same paper too.

Sorry for the grey photo. It's hard to photograph projects here in the Pacific Northwest. It really is as grey and cloudy as you've heard it is! Oh well. We have great summers at least! If any of you reading this have a light box/tent to recommend I'd love to know what you use.

I hope you can find some time to come play with our challenge and win a great prize.
Have a great day!

Thank you just for being you

Our current challenge over at The Paper Girls is to make a Thank You card.

So here's what I have:

The floral and chevron strips are washi tape. The aqua floral paper is from BasecGrey's Hipster line (I love that paper!). And the stamp is from Simon Says Stamp - I think it was an exclusive to one of their monthly card kits last year.

Easy peasy. And now I have a Thank You card to send (and who doesn't need more of those!) and I put a very small dent in my washi collection.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Snow Day shaker card

Hi! I am over at the Craft Warehouse blog today with 3 Christmas cards. I got to use Lawn Fawn's Snow Day collection. Go have a peek!

I also had this shaker card that I made. My first shaker card. These are so much fun!
I used Distress Ink in Weathered Wood and a waterbrush to paint the snowy hills. Then I used the Snow Day stamp set to stamp the snowflakes, tree line, rabbit, and sentiment. There are also matching dies for the stamps So I used those to cut out the rabbit and single tree.
Then I used random sequins and glitter to fill my frame. I can't wait to make more!

Thanks for stopping by today.

And thanks to Craft Warehouse for having me as a designer today. If you are in the Pacific Northwest please stop by one of their stores - they are great!
