boo...

This card is a double entry for both Off The Wall Craftiness and ScrapbookSteals.com

Inspiration colors:

Monday Card Madness #2 at ScrapbookSteals.com using this sketch:

First, I turned the sketch on its side and changed it just a tad. I sprayed the card with some log cabin smooch spritz and used the leftover scraps from my paper pumpkin to make this really simple card. The papers are from The Spiders Web from My Mind's Eye. I cut the word BOO using the Happy Hauntings cartridge and the leaves are cut from the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge. The button is Stampin Up.

The paper pumpkin

* Update and Disclaimer - I just saw a very similar pumpkin like this on Oh My Crafts's blog today (October 12th). I swear I did not copy theirs. My post was first : )  It is so bizarre that we both used the same papers to make them! I really thought it was mine when I first saw it and then realized that theirs was better! Anyway, I really did create this all on my own! But here are their instructions if you'd like a little more guidance or just want to see how similar they are!

Off The Wall Craftiness Challenge #28
The inspiration photo:

So instead of making another card I thought I'd try something different. I think these paper pumpkins are so cute so I just had to have one.

I started with 3 sheets of The Spider's Web collection from My Mind's Eye.

I cut them into 1-inch strips that were 12 inches long. I didn't need the entire sheets; there was some left over. I think I probably used about 18-20 strips. I cut out circles of paper and glued the strips to them with glue dots. In retrospect using brads might have been easier so that the strips could be spun around to make them evenly spaced. Then I cut a 6-inch strip of paper and rolled it to make the stem and glued it on too. Then I cut 12-inch lengths about 1/4" wide and wrapped them around a pencil to make the tendrils. Lastly, I cut out a leaf shape from a coordinating paper, drew on some veins, inked the edges and glued it on as well.

I love Autumn and everything that goes with it! I wonder how long this will last with two little boys wanting to play with it???

Easy on the ink there...

Inspiration photo:

My card:
SU Early Espresso card stock, scrap vanilla card stock and scrap My Mind's Eye Breaking Free paper. Sentiment stamp from SU's Teeny Tiny Wishes and the script stamp (stamped on the aqua paper) is SU's French Foliage. I inked up everything (even the rose)! I might have gotten carried away and had some trouble with the sponge daubers. You can see the circles on the right side. Oops. The border punch is also from SU but can't remember the name just now.

I don't know if you can see it in the photo but I sprayed some Vanilla Smooch spritz. I may have been heavy-handed with that as well. It's not the look I wanted, but it is very sparkly now! The flower is Martha Stewart and felt leaf was limited-edition SU.

Oh, and I added some faux stitching with my white gel pen. This was my first attempt at something trying to look vintage or aged. Not too bad.

Happy World Cardmaking Day!

HAPPY WORLD CARDMAKING DAY!!!!

Did you even know there was such a thing?

Actually I did, but I thought it already happened last month! Not sure how that happened.

Make a card for someone today even if it's for no reason at all.

Or just get a head start on some holiday cards.

Not crafty? Try a kit for some semi-homemade cards. I love the ones Basic Gray has. They are so pretty and easy to make.

Have a happy crafty time!
