ATC Swap, part 1

So I participated in my first ATC (Artist Trading Card) Swap!
It was through ScrapbookSteals and we had 16 participants!
The thought of doing 16 of the same thing hurt.
Really.
I have a small attention span and little patience!
So I came up with 2 ideas and did 8 of each. Still, a bit much, but better than 16 : )

Here is the first bunch:

First I disressed and inked all the edges. Then misted every card with a Glimmer Mist.
I used the beautiful stamp from Unity called Untamed Beauty.
{I'm linking up to their Friends with Flair post!}
And colored in every. single. petal. Whew. Had to break that up in to several days' work.
I added some glitter glue and an embossed butterfly.

And then I heat embossed the sentiment with some metallic copper Zing.

I'll post the second set later. Must clean house now and get lots done!

I'm so excited to get my set of cards for the trade.

Uggh. It's almost May. Why is the flu still here????

I have been sick with the flu or something that's been going around.
Got it on Friday.
It's still here.
Not happy.

I miss my craft room but would rather cuddle up in bed or on the sofa.

My kids however, have been busy. They made some Easter crafts. They wanted to enter them in the kids' contest at Sketches for all. The criteria was that it had to contain a bunny and eggs.
Let me just tell you that this bothered me. So much. What does a bunny have to do with Easter??? It really bugs me when people don't recognize what Easter really is.

But my son knows what it is and his younger brother has an idea. And they really wanted to enter the contest.

Oh, I forgot to say why they were excited to enter.
Remember this?
My 7-year-old entered this in his first online challenge. AND HE WON!!!! We don't have the goodies yet as they are coming from overseas and will take awhile. But he was eager to enter again!

Here is his Easter entry:
He cut the bunny, chick and egg on my Cricut! Yep, he knows how to use it. It's so cute to watch him!
He added egg stickers and some grass he cut with shaped scissors and he wrote his sentiment.
I think it's so cute!

And my 4-year-old wanted to play too!
Um, yeah. Okay. So there is a bunny on this one on one of the square stickers. That orange thing is supposed to be a chick. And it is saying "Happy Trick or Treat!". Well, that's what it's supposed to say but it's spelled all wrong! Now. On the left side. Is a water buffalo. He insisted it have a water buffalo! I have no idea why. But it had to have one. So it has a blue body and huge yellow horns. And no face.
Oh, this makes me laugh every time I look at it! =D

He gets it from me!

My son, who just turned 7, has just entered his first online crafty challenge! I don't know which one of us is more excited! The Sketches 4 All group has a new kids only challenge for kids ages 4-15.

The first challenge in his age group was to make a drawing or card and it had to include: 3 colors, an animal, and glitter. This is what he came up with:
Yellow, blue and green construction paper, a giraffe he drew with crayons, and yellow and blue glitter glue. He also cut up some white foam to make those embellishments.

When he was done he looks at me with those big brown eyes and says, "Do you think I'll win?". Gosh, I hope he does so he doesn't get his heart broken! But, if he doesn't I guess it will help him learn to deal with losing too. Even if he doesn't win the crafting goodies I might just have to buy him my own prize just to encourage him more.

This just made me so happy and I had to share!!!!

A birthday card

I had to use my Paper Lace cartridge again. I just love the images on it!

For the first time I used double-sided paper for my card base instead of solid cardstock. I really like the look it gives. Just add a piece of white paper inside to write your note on:

I used the same side of the paper that's on the inside for the lace shadow on the front:

For the corners on the card front I just cut off pieces from another image of the cartridge
The image on the right was what was left after I peeled the image off.
On the left is the image I peeled off but with the corners already cut off.

I find one of the easiest ways to attach these lacey images is to spray them with a spray adhesive. Using a tape runner or glue stick would just be too messy. If you have a large enough Xyron sticker maker that would work too. But I just have the 1.5" X, so I use spray adhesive. Hold your image in a cardboard box to catch the residual spray.

OR... another easier way would be to use vinyl! It's already sticky so you don't need to add adhesive.

Supply List:
Paper Lace Cricut cartridge
SEI paper
spray adhesive
